When supporting individuals with autism, it is important to work with each individual’s strengths and abilities to enable them to achieve their potential.
Working with each individual’s strengths and abilities is a fundamental approach to unlocking their potential and enhancing their overall well-being. It not only empowers individuals but also contributes to a more inclusive and diverse society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and make meaningful contributions.
Well-being and quality of life is improved because individuals will feel recognised and their strengths valued. This can result in improved self-confidence and self-esteem as they learn new skills.
Individuals are also more likely to engage with carers and support workers if their contributions are recognised and valued and working with their strengths sets them up for an improved likelihood of success, which can prevent frustration and dejection.
