This page is designed to answer the following questions:
- 4.2 Apply values and principles that underpin service provision (Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care, Professional Practice in Health and Social Care for Adults or Children and Young People)
NOTE: This page has been quality assured for 2023 as per our Quality Assurance policy.
For this assessment criterion, you will be required to demonstrate that you are able to apply the values and principles that underpin service provision in your own practice.
For example, you may show that you are able to promote choice for service users by asking them what they would like to do, what they would like to eat or what they would like to wear. And then demonstrate respect for their decision by supporting them to carry out their wishes.
You may show that you are able to work in partnership with others by leading a care plan review, during which a service user, their family and another care worker all work in collaboration to make changes to the service user’s care delivery in line with their changing needs, wishes and preferences.
Or, you may demonstrate courage by upholding an individual’s rights if they feel that they have been mistreated and wish to make a complaint.
